Bascha and Nicoise is here!

I can't believe how long it's been since I blogged. I'm lame, I know. I guess I've been too busy SELLING on Etsy and eBay! That is good news! Business has been brisk and I've been distracted with house hunting too! In the meantime, Alexander Henry finally sent me the beautiful Bascha and Nicoise fabrics in lime green, orange, pink, and red - they call it Citrus and I call it fabulous! This fabric screams Summer! (Which is a good thing to be thinking about when it's dark and rainy in April in Seattle!) I've also reordered the lovely Anna Maria Horner Chocolate Lollipop collection - what a great seller! I'm waiting patiently to receive her new Drawing Room collection that is her first attempt with Home Decor weight fabrics. I'm sure I will want to order more as soon as the first bolts arrive! City Girl has been selling so well that it is backordered until JUNE. Grrrrr! We'll just have to be patient on those too I guess! Arriving any day....the much anticipated Midwest Modern collection from Amy Butler! I've ordered the lime green, yellow and turquoise colorway, so we'll see how you like it! Have a great week and let's pray for more sun in Seattle!

Surf and Sand has arrived!

Just a quick note to let everyone know that the Marcus Brothers, Surf and Sand collection has arrived! You can buy it in fat quarter sets, or by-the-yard, of course! This great combination of stripes, dots, and flowers make me want to decorate a beach house! Oh, to dream!

Arriving shortly, City Girl by Kitty Yoshida. Can't wait to show this off!

Coming in April - Drawing Room by Anna Maria Horner and Midwest Modern by, who else, but Amy Butler!

What is coming soon?

Well, I must say I had a fabulous time at the NW Fabric and Notions Show this past weekend. It was great to meet so many great people in the industry - some from as far as New York! It is fantastic that they make the effort to come to Seattle in February so that we can stock up before Quilt Market in May (in Portland this year). Now, let's get down to brass tacks...what did I love?

Well, my favorite designer, Anna Maria Horner, is coming out with her first new line of Home Decor fabrics in April, Drawing Room. Ahhhhhhh. This is the woman who brought us the yummy Chocolate Lollipop line and now we get to enjoy some fabulous new colors and patterns in a heavier weight fabric, that is 54" wide (not 44"). So what did I order? Fabulous patterns in red, pink, ivory, yellow and black. These fabrics all have very large patterns of flowers and vines that would look fantastic on your chair and ottoman or as a handbag or little girl's dresses! The possibilities are endless!

What else do I love? Amy Butler's new apparel and quilters weight fabric, Midwest Modern. Perhaps based on her fabulous Nigella Home Decor weight fabrics - these Midwest Modern fabrics come in slightly smaller patterns, in different color combinations, in lighter weight finishes! Love it! I was drawn to the "Ohio Sky" line of cheerful yellow and greens. Green. So Spring. She is a wonder! Everyone says her booth at quilt market is quite fabulous. I can't wait to see it in May! But her Midwest Modern fabrics should arrive before that - perhaps in early April. We'll have to wait and see. In addition to these new lines I also purchased a great combination of turquoise and tan stripes, dots, and floral from Marcus Brothers. It is from their Surf and Sand collection and it should be arriving shortly! I can't wait to share it with you. Also arriving shortly is the delectable "City Girl" set of 6 from the talented designer, Kitty Yoshida for Benartex. She is quite talented, hitting the mark by combining geometrics, stripes, vines, and flowers in amazing color combinations! My favorite is the pink, brown and green colorway. Simply jaw-dropping!

So keep checking back as these new fabrics will be arriving during the months of March and April!

Where have I been?

Oh my goodness, it has been forever since I've blogged! I've been in "full-swing" selling cute fabric sets on Etsy, trying my hand at eBay, and going on vacation. I'm happy to say that I have many happy customers on Etsy and I'm nearing my 100th positive feedback! Hooray! Everyone seems to like my packaging ("like a little gift in the mail") and many are commenting on my super-speedy shipping! I've sold a few things on eBay, but my next step is to get my eBay shop up and running, with the help of my industrious sister. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be in business at all.

Vacation. Is there anything better than getting the heck out of Seattle in February? My husband and I just returned from a wonderful vacation with some friends in Hawaii. I must say though, that Hawaii is a bit rainy in February. But no matter, we had an absolutely fabulous time, including a whale watch! It doesn't really matter if it's raining when you're in shorts and a t-shirt in 80 degree weather. Watching the humpbacks is worth an entire week of rain in Hawaii, if you get to see them frolic! We had two whales "surrounding" our boat and putting on a show of their own for about a half an hour. It was quite memorable and very moving. I hope you can appreciate how lovely they are from the pictures I'm including here.

Anyway, back to the grindstone. I am hoping to order some new fabrics at the upcoming NW Fabric and Notions Show. I'm especially looking forward to viewing Anna Maria Horner's new line, "Drawing Room"! Check my shop for new arrivals. Spring is the time for everything fresh and new!

New Arrivals!

Well I'm pleased to announce that the first couple bolts of the Alexander Henry "Very Berry" just arrived! This fabric is SPRING. It is a fantastic bold pattern of strawberries on black, with pink, red and a fantastic olive green. All the berries have different patterns of polka dots. Very sweet. When I ordered this, in my mind I saw little girl dresses....or a jumper. I also imagined baby blankets backed in pink or red minky. Somebody please make something girlie with this! Just a note, there are a few more Alexander Henry fabrics on the way that may coordinate with this, but don't wait, be the FIRST to offer your items in the cutest fabric for Spring!

January 2008

Well I can't believe I haven't blogged ONCE over the Holidays. I guess I was busy doing other things like baking, shopping, wrapping, socializing, and being full of good cheer.

I have FINALLY started to receive my fabric orders. Boy, it is slow going - a few weeks (or a month!) between order date and actually receiving the bolts. At least now I know so I can plan better for the future.

In Seattle, when the calendar roles to January, everyone is ready for Spring. Which is, of course, totally ridiculous because it has only been Winter for all of TWO WEEKS! I'm more than ready to ditch the grays, browns, and blacks for green, yellow and pink! Let the Spring shopping commence! Everything feels new again and I just love it. Speaking of love...Valentine's Day is coming up and I found some absolutely fantastic pink and brown fabric. Dots, flowers, and stripes - a perfect combination. I hope someone buys them soon and makes something fabulous out of them so I can bask your craftiness!

February is also the month that I get to attend the NW Fabric and Notions show. Can't wait to see what is coming out soon. I heard through the 'fabric-vine' that Heather Bailey is coming out with 60 new fabrics. That's right, SIXTY. Oh, goodie, goodie. I think I need a bigger house...

Setting up shop!

Well my sister has done it - she set up the Fabric-by-the-Yard website with a link to purchase things on etsy for now. I'm really excited to get things up and running, since I've been so busy selling since Thanksgiving! Orders are slowing down a bit now because everyone is shopping for gifts, not fabric.

I placed an Amy Butler home decor fabric order this morning and I ordered some chocolate lollipop from Anna Maria Horner, so hopefully all that will come before the end of the year. Also, I received a brand new bolt of my FAVORITE fabric yesterday from Alexander Henry - Mocca. LOVE IT. I wish it was edible! :)

I'm getting lots of positive feedback on my packaging, which is just fabulous! The sets of fabric have been referred to as little 'gifts in the mail'. I'm working on getting all my labels, packaging, ribbon and shipping materials all organized and ordered so that I can start the new year with a bang. I'm planning on setting up a shop on eBay too, so hopefully that will keep me busy with many orders a day.

I can't wait until Amy Butler's new line is available in March 2008.
